Is it safe to visit the Orthodontist?

You may naturally have questions regarding the specific precautions and steps our office is taking to ensure patient safety. Although the process for making and keeping an appointment may seem a bit different than in the best, you should know that Ferris Orthodontics has always been committed to preventing the spread of illness, including COVDI-19. From disinfecting waiting rooms and treatment rooms to the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) by all staff, our goal is to ensure the safety of both staff and patients.

What to expect before, during, and after your orthodontic treatment:

When it comes to halting the spread of Covid-19 or any other virus, you should know that we are committed to the adherence of strict precautions. Precautions that have always been in place include the use of gloves, glasses, masks, and sterile devices and instruments. Additionally, our office takes great care to disinfect and clean all surfaces. This means cleaning and disinfecting any frequently touched surfaces, such as chairs, desks, door handles, and bathrooms. In some cases, it may be necessary to completely remove items that might be touched frequently and difficult to clean. As a result, you may no longer see reading materials, including magazines, and refreshment stations in your orthodontist office. Furthermore, we may request that you brush your teeth at home prior to keeping your appointment, rather than brushing them at the office following check-in for your appointment.

How the appointment process may differ now:

Be prepared to expect that your check-in to the office may now include a few additional steps. These precautions are intended to ensure the safety of both patients and staff. For example, at the time of check-in, you will be asked to complete a screening questionnaire. A staff member may also perform a temperature check. Additionally, you may be asked to wait in your vehicle rather than in the waiting room until it is time for you to go to the treatment room. You may be asked to adhere to social distancing guidelines while you are in the office. You may be asked not to bring anyone else with you to your appointment. In the event that someone must accompany you to your appointment, that individual may also be required to undergo screening at the same time as your appointment check-in. You might notice there are few people in the office than you are accustomed to seeing in order to promote social distancing guidelines. Patients may be asked to perform a rinse during their appointment to reduce the amount of harmful bacteria and germs in their mouths.

It’s important to know that in the event that you have any questions or concerns at any time, you are encouraged to ask our team. While it is certainly understandable to be concerned during this uncertain time, you can rest assured that the entire team at Ferris Orthodontics is taking all precautions possible to ensure the safety of patients.
